In Boikene-Munzambaye, Beni region, Democratic Republic of the Congo, three Christians were killed in an attack attributed to members of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). The incident occurred between June 10 and 11, 2026, according to local Christian leaders, who also reported looting and arson at residents’ homes.
On the day after the attack, residents gathered to transport the victims’ bodies to Beni General Referral Hospital and voiced their condemnation of the ongoing violence. Reports indicate that security interventions after the incident heightened tension, with fear spreading through the area and neighboring communities, including threats circulated on social media.
The Allied Democratic Forces are an armed extremist group operating in eastern Congo, with ties to broader extremist networks. The violence and presence of armed groups are cited as factors contributing to the persecution of Christians in the region, a context reflected in ongoing concerns noted by observers and within the country’s religious freedom reporting.
