Abdu was an imam and religious leader in a Horn of Africa community when a profound life change began after a dream with Jesus. Although he remained in his role for a time to avoid suspicion, he started preaching about Isa (Jesus) in mosques, which drew curiosity among listeners. Over time, a substantial portion of his Quranic students began to believe in Jesus, leading him to publicly acknowledge his new faith.
The account notes that upon his conversion, Abdu faced physical assaults, public threats, and social media incitement as his change became known. As a result, part of his family also embraced Christianity, and the community began to refer to his area as a โChristian neighborhood.โ The danger level prompted him to seek refuge in Kenya for periods, before returning to support his family and continue his ministry.
Today, Abdu serves as an evangelist on social media, with a notable presence on TikTok where he claims more than 150,000 followers and reports daily messages from Muslims who encountered Jesus through his testimonies. To stay safe, he keeps his identity hidden in public and leads a team that sends evangelists to Muslim-majority regions, while traveling to disciple Muslim-background Christians and train leaders. His experience highlights the enduring faith of Christians in the Horn of Africa, despite opposition and violence, with the aim of strengthening the local church through emergency aid, discipleship, and post-trauma care.
