Mario

ContextMario is an indigenous pastor living in northern Colombia, a region plagued by drug trafficking and armed groups such as the FARC, ELN, and the Gulf Clan. He serves remote indigenous communities, bringing humanitarian and spiritual aid. However, his faith and work put him in conflict with the cartels, who see the church as a threat to their control.

The TrialOne Sunday, during Sunday school, a FARC leader stormed the service and ordered them to stop, declaring hatred for churches. Violence escalated when bombs dropped during clashes between armed groups hit Mario's house, killing his daughter. He lost his home and his community was devastated.

Faith and OutcomeAt his daughter's funeral, Mario preached about Christ as the only path to peace, even amidst grief. His unwavering faith inspired the community, who encouraged him to move forward. Today, he continues serving in another indigenous village, facing trauma and constant threats, but holding onto hope in God.
