Gladys

ContextGladys, a Kenyan woman living in Mombasa, enjoyed a happy marriage with Benjamin Juma, a dedicated doctor and pastor. The region, once known for peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims, was experiencing growing religious tension, with Islamic extremists recruiting followers and attacking Christians.

The TrialOn May 7, 2012, Benjamin left for an evangelistic mission in a Muslim-majority area, despite Gladys's concerns. Hours later, she learned that he and another pastor had been brutally attacked, killed, and their bodies burned with gasoline and tires, leaving only skull fragments and skin.

Faith and OutcomeFaced with the tragedy, Gladys found strength in her faith to forgive the killers, inspired by Benjamin's example of always apologizing and valuing forgiveness. She continues to care for her family and witness her faith, keeping her husband's memory alive.
