Dambar

ContextDambar, a former Hindu priest, was born and lived in Nepal, where the Christian minority faces strong discrimination. Until 2006, Nepal was the only Hindu kingdom in the world, and Christians are seen as a threat to local traditions. Dambar was trained from a young age at a priest school but never found answers to his questions about the origin and destiny of humanity.

The TrialThe crisis came when his mother, who suffered from cardiac arrhythmia, died at home. Dambar cried out to the 33 million Hindu gods, but none answered. Neighbors scolded him for crying all night and suggested burying the body. Refusing to accept death, he carried his mother on his back for an entire day to two hospitals, begging doctors to bring her back, but was expelled and called crazy.

Faith and OutcomeExhausted and hopeless, a neighbor mentioned that Christians pray and the dead rise. Dambar, in desperation, called out to Jesus and witnessed a miracle: his mother returned to life. Impacted, he converted to Christianity, facing persecution from family and society, losing everything. Today, he says it was worth standing firm in faith, inspiring others to believe.
